Funeral services for Mrs. Nancy Ada Allen, age 81, a longtime resident of the Perrysville community, who died at 9:45 p.m. Friday, Sept 1, (1961) in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, where she had been a patient 4 days, were held at 2 p.m. Monday Sept 4 at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home here. Harry Kinney officiated. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery near Cates. Pallbearers were grandsons, Phillip Montague, Ralph Ransom, LeRoy Keeling, Pete Bratton, Gordon Shoaf, Robert Allen, Kenneth Jacobs & Vern Saltsgaver. Mrs. Allen was born Jan 6, 1880 in Kansas, daughter of Rufus and Sarah Foster Wallace. She was married to David Allen in 1899. He preceded her in death Nov 28, 1926. Mrs. Allen was a resident of the Cates community until 1927. Survivors are: three sons, Ferris of Covington Rt 1, Lowell of Perrysville, and Robert of Danville, Il; five daughtesr, Mrs. Otto (Gay) Crowder of Perrysville, Mrs. Marjorie Royer of Lafayette, Mrs. Avanelle Shoaf of Kingman, Mrs. Wilma Dunn of Chicago and Mrs. Fredia Holycross of Danville, Rt; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four sons, a brother, two grandsons, a half sister and foster sister.
